ANTI NUCLEAR ANTIBODY ( ANA ) - IFA
  • Overview

The Anti-Nuclear Antibody (ANA) - IFA (Immunofluorescence Assay) test detects antibodies that attack the nucleus of cells, often indicating an autoimmune disorder. The IFA method is considered the gold standard for ANA testing due to its high sensitivity. It is used in diagnosing autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), scleroderma, Sjögren's syndrome, and other related conditions.

Preparation: No special preparation or fasting is required. Inform your healthcare provider about any medications you are taking, as they might influence the results.

Procedure: A blood sample is drawn from a vein, usually in the arm.
